After a few weeks of searching due to stocking issues, I finally got my hands on a copy of the new Devil May Cry Graphic File artbook. The book itself seems to be in short supply, even in my area, but it is obtainable with the right amount of motivation.
The first thing you may notice is that the cover is actually done by the same artist that supplied all the concept art for Sengoku Basara 1 and 2 (戦国バサラ). The art in the book is surprisingly comprehensive, not only offering location and monster art and renders, but also offering up a very large chapter devoted to the different color tests and design changes Capcom went through when initially designing Dante.
The release date of the artbook itself, and the revealing of Devil May Cry 4 at Tokyo Game Show in September, is no coincidence. The artbook has a fifth chapter at the back devoted to initial released renders and concept art for the fourth game in the series, as well as interviews with members of the development team, including Shinji Mikami himself.
The book weighs in at 144 pages with a glossy finish, costs ¥2300, and is available at most major book stores with a game magazine section.
Without further ado, the photos:
